"The above is a photo of Pte Michael Grimley of the Black Watch, whose parents reside at Dee Street, West Calder and who has been killed at Ypres. Pte Grimley spent 6 and a half years with the colours in India. The information of his death was sent home in a letter from a comrade who was beside him at the time. It appears that Pte Grimley had been in the trenches at the time, and while he was passing along the communication trench from the firing line he was struck by a shell. He lay down in the trench and was attended to, but passed away.
